Abstract

The development of British rule in modern India and the exploitation of Indian resources began after the British victory in the Battles of Plassey and Buxar. The Battle of Plassey has special significance in Indian history. This paved the way for British rule over Bengal and eventually all of India. After getting the vast empire of India, in order to maintain its control over it and to maintain its dominance over the administration, various tactics were adopted by the East India Company. The administrative policy of the Company underwent frequent changes between 1757 and 1947, that is, during a long span of about 200 years. But he never forgot his original purpose. Its basic objectives included a British-backed policy of promoting the Company's profits, of exploiting its Indian possessions more and more for Britain's benefit, and of consolidating British administrative control over India. Apart from this, all the other objectives were secondary in front of these goals. During the colonial period, the administrative system was built in such a way that these goals could be fulfilled. From this point of view, maximum emphasis was laid on maintaining law and order in a new way so that trade with India and exploitation of its resources continued without any hindrance.
