Abstract

With independence, India was also partitioned. The British policy of "divide and rule" was responsible for this partition. The British did the work of dividing Hindus and Muslims through many acts. Because of this communalism started between Hindus and Muslims. Muslim League and Jinnah worked to increase this communalism. Apart from this, Hindu Mahasabha also worked to increase communalism, due to which communal violence broke out and thousands of people lost their lives. Congress also contributed in promoting communal politics in the country. On many occasions, Congress did not give importance or gave too much importance to the Muslim League, due to which its ambition increased, which later became the reason for the partition of the country.
