The revolt of 1857 was the first widespread expression of public discontent in India against British rule. Freedom fighters actively participated in this revolution to end the rule of the British Company. The contribution of Madhya Pradesh in this great battle of revolution is invaluable. Raja Bakhtawar Singh of Amjhera was the first sacrificial ruler of Malwa to ignite the spark of rebellion against the British, who laid down his life to end the Company's rule. In this paper, there is a mention of the efforts and sacrifice of Raja Bakhtawar Singh in the first freedom struggle of 1857, which will always be a source of inspiration.
