Abstract

The primary objective of the present research is to study the increasing possibilities of cultivating new medicinal plants in the semi-arid Nagaur region of Rajasthan, where the potential for food grain production is relatively low due to unfavorable geographical conditions. For this study, 11 villages of the district were selected and analyzed. The research findings reveal that the cultivation of medicinal plants is rapidly expanding in the region. However, despite the vast potential, the full development of this agricultural practice has not yet been achieved because of the lack of proper agricultural techniques, inadequate training, non-availability of improved seeds, and insufficient awareness among local farmers regarding medicinal plant cultivation. Therefore, significant governmental and non-governmental efforts are urgently required to promote and develop this sector effectively.
