Man has been a slave of man, a slave of nature, a slave of gods, a slave of customs, a slave of prejudices and wrong beliefs, a slave of superstitions, a slave of ignorance and attachment. Democracy is the system that wants to free man from all these types of slavery. To maintain this free system, the constitution makers established a self-governing body known as the Election Commission. Elections are considered to be the foundation of democracy, through which the public selects its representatives and hands over the reins of the country to them. In India, elections are no less than a great celebration in democracy. However, unfortunately, some flaws have crept into our electoral process, which have started posing a threat to democracy.
