Abstract

Vindhya region is world famous for the emergence and development of prehistoric cultures. A continuous sequence of the above cultures has been revealed in the Belan and Son river valleys situated in this region, in which the evidence of Middle Palaeolithic culture is very important and useful. Middle Palaeolithic material has also been reported from Maihar and Bhimbetka of Madhya Pradesh. In this research paper, an attempt has been made to underline the Middle Palaeolithic life and economy of Vindhya region from the archaeological evidence obtained from various Middle Palaeolithic archaeological sites situated in Vindhya region. At the same time, an attempt has also been made to analyse the emergence and contribution of this culture.
